- Part 3: agreeing, disagreeing and decidingPart 3 is a discussion between students, often with a tutor. Track who suggests an idea, who agrees or disagrees, and what they finally decide.
- Part 4: a lecture and note completionPart 4 is a talk by one speaker on an academic subject, with notes to complete. Follow the lecturer’s signposts and catch each answer behind a paraphrase.
- Predict the answer: word type, number or pluralUse the seconds before the recording to decide what each gap needs: a verb, a noun or an adjective, a number, a date, a price, a singular or a plural.
- Listening traps: plurals, spelling, limits, correctionsFour ways to lose a mark you heard: an answer the speaker then corrects, too many words, a missing plural s and a spelling slip. Practise each one.
- Follow the argument: contrast and cause signalsSpeakers in Parts 3 and 4 build arguments with small words: however, whereas, although, because of, as a result. Learn what each one tells you is coming.
