What this site is
Phrase Bites IELTS is an independent study aid for people preparing for the IELTS test. You can join the waitlist, read the free sample lessons of our course, and create an account with your email. Members (a monthly subscription, below) read every lesson and use timed practice.. The AI marking of your writing, the AI speaking examiner and the help assistant are open to members, including during the free trial (the daily limits are smaller then), and a few uses of them are part of the free plan, within daily limits we set. What you type or say in them is sent to our AI provider (the privacy policy says who and how); the results are written by software, can be wrong and are estimates, never official results. We may change the limits, or change or remove these features, at any time. Please do not put personal details into your answers.
Not an official IELTS product
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by IELTS, the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. IELTS is a trademark of its owners. We use our own original practice material, not real exam papers.
No guarantees about your result
Any band or score we show is an estimate, written by software, and it can be wrong. It is not an official IELTS result and does not predict your real score. Do not rely on it for important decisions, such as when to book a test. Membership does not guarantee any band or result.
Membership
Membership is a monthly subscription to Phrase Bites IELTS, sold by Martzey Ltd. The plan on sale is Basic: while you are a member you can read every lesson of the course and use timed practice. Without a membership, an account is on the free plan: it can try one of each (the first lesson of every module, one Reading and one Listening practice, one Writing answer and one Speaking test marked by the AI, Mock Test 1, the flashcards and a few answers from the help assistant), and the rest of the dashboard needs a membership, which starts with a 3-day free trial (below). We may change what the free plan includes. The AI marking and the AI speaking examiner are part of Basic, and open from the start of the free trial, within daily limits we set (smaller during the trial, larger once you are paying). If we ever sell a separate plan, it will have its own price and terms and will not change what you have already paid for.
- Price. The price a month depends on the country you are in when you start, worked out from your internet connection, and it is for cards issued in that country. It is shown on the membership page and on Stripe’s payment page before you start: the United Kingdom £19.99; the United Arab Emirates AED 69; Vietnam 299,000 ₫; the Philippines ₱499; India ₹599; Pakistan Rs 1,999; Bangladesh ৳799; Nepal NPR 899; Nigeria ₦7,999. Anywhere else, in US dollars: US$24.99 in high-income countries, US$12.99 in upper-middle-income countries, US$8.99 in lower-middle-income countries and US$6.99 in low-income countries (the World Bank’s groups). We can’t sell membership where our payment provider can’t take payments.
- Your card’s country. If the card you give is from a country where membership costs more than the price you started at, the free trial ends straight away and nothing is charged; you can start again at the price for your card’s country.
- Free trial. New members start with a 3-day free trial. You give a card when you start, and nothing is taken during the trial. If you don’t cancel before it ends, the first month’s price is taken when it ends.
- It renews every month. After the trial, your membership renews automatically each month on the same date, and your card is charged the same price each time, until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard: choose “Manage or cancel”. It takes effect at the end of the trial or of the month you have paid for: you keep access until then and are not charged again. If you cancel during the free trial, you pay nothing. If you ask us to delete your account, we cancel your membership first.
- If a payment fails, our payment provider tries again for a while and you keep access meanwhile. If it still fails, your membership ends.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us.
Your right to cancel
UK law usually gives you 14 days from when you start to change your mind. Membership gives you the lessons straight away, so when you start you ask us to give you access during those 14 days, and you agree that access begins at once. The 3-day free trial falls inside those 14 days: if you cancel during it, you pay nothing. If you have been charged and want to cancel within the 14 days, write to aman66@hotmail.co.uk, and we will deal with any refund as UK consumer law requires. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights, including your rights if something we provide is faulty.
Changes to the price
We may change the monthly price. If we do, we will email members at least 30 days before the new price applies to them, so you can cancel before it does if you don’t want to pay it.
Using the site
- Use it for yourself, and do not try to break it, overload it or scrape it.
- Give us a real email address that is yours.
- Keep your account to yourself: the login codes we email you are for you only.
- If you log in with Google, Google sends us your email address, your name, the address of your profile picture and its ID number for your account, and we keep them with your account (our privacy policy says more). Your Google account stays under Google’s own terms. Anyone who can get into it can get into your account here, so keep it safe.
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
- Your membership is for you alone: please do not share your login with anyone else.
- The course lessons, example answers and practice questions are our own work. Use them for your own study; please do not copy, share or sell them.
Our responsibility
We do our best to keep the site working, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We are not responsible for losses that come from relying on it. Nothing here limits your legal rights as a consumer, or anything the law does not allow us to limit.
